Nurse Practitioner Residency Program: A New Beginning
Are you ready to embark on a transformative journey in healthcare? The Primary Health Network is thrilled to announce the relaunch of its Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Residency Program, offering an exciting opportunity for new nurse practitioners to thrive and make a meaningful impact. But here's where it gets controversial... Is this the right path for every aspiring nurse practitioner? Let's dive in and explore.
A Supportive Environment for Growth
Primary Health Network is committed to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals. The CRNP Residency Program is designed to provide a solid foundation for new nurse practitioners, offering a unique blend of clinical experience and educational opportunities. This one-year, salaried residency program runs from September 2026 to August 2027, with two residents accepted annually.
A Well-Rounded Learning Experience
The program offers a diverse learning experience, ensuring residents gain a comprehensive understanding of healthcare. Here's a breakdown of the clinical framework:
- 40% Precepted Continuity Clinics: Residents will have the chance to work directly with patients in primary care settings, gaining hands-on experience and building their skills.
- 20% Specialty Rotations: Explore various specialties such as Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Women's Health, Urgent Care, and Telemedicine. This rotation allows residents to discover their interests and develop expertise in specific areas.
- 20% Mentored Clinics: Focus on acute and episodic care under the guidance of experienced mentors. This phase emphasizes practical application and skill refinement.
- 20% Didactic Education: Engage in classroom learning to reinforce clinical competencies. Lectures, case studies, and labs relevant to FQHCs will be part of this educational journey.
Connecting and Collaborating
Throughout the program, residents will connect with other new nurse practitioners nationwide. This network of peers provides support, fosters collaboration, and creates opportunities for shared learning. Additionally, residents will have the chance to participate in 'Project ECHO,' an innovative case-learning model that enhances preparation for complex healthcare scenarios through multidisciplinary collaboration.
Application and Eligibility
The application process is now open and will close on February 27. Candidates must submit an online application, including a completed application form, three letters of recommendation, and a personal statement. Eligibility criteria include completing a Family Nurse Practitioner program after August 2025 and holding a license in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
A Commitment to Stronger Communities
Primary Health Network believes in investing in the next generation of healthcare professionals. By participating in this program, residents will not only enhance their skills but also contribute to building stronger, healthier communities for all. The network's statement emphasizes the program's role in addressing healthcare provider shortages while improving health outcomes in underserved communities.
